Some "how to" questions

hey guys..

probably self explaining but none the less, frustrating if you dont know how to do them..

how to:

- order a ship to dock somewhere
- if docked, how to get it repaired
- or sold
- give propper commands to owned ships
- see what a ship's curently order is / what its doing at the moment
- how exacly does a engineer chose what part of the ship to repair, what does he need to do it and how can i influence this..? also, how can i check the status of his work (in %)

the question regarding the engineer i asked because all i can see is the status by looking at a bar, but i cant see it progressing at all, so i think the engineer is either not doing his job or he is missing something something to do his job, like parts or resources or something..

that will do for now but more to come for sure.. :)

1- To my knowledge, you can't
2- You can repair ships by finding a ships dealer (or smth like that) on stations and talking to him
3- Same dealer
4- Proper commands? You're playing X rebirth mate...
5- In the info tab of a ship, if you look into it's management, captain, details, you can see what the captain is doing. (not sure about how detailed the info given is though)
6. He need URV construction drones and skills (I dk to what extent the skills influence repairs). He will only repair parts of the ship, not the full hull. To see the progress, you'll need to look at the parts one by one.

how exacly do i find trade opertunities..? am i supposed to fly in between the station's structures and hope i come across a icon..? i mean, this is very time consuming and if you have to find a sell point for the energy cells you just bought but cant find it, its frustrating.. not to mention i am looking at a slideshow of +- 5 fps.. :cry:

i realy hope there is some other way..

That is exactly how the game is supposed to function. You can get yourself a trade computer extension (the only software in the game) and you won't need to look for icons, your trade computer will be automatically populated with offers (but you still need to fly near the station for this to happen).

so we get another freighter, a small one this time..

now it insists on following me, flying through the gate to Albion and getting destroyed every time.. it still follows me even if its not in my squad.. ffs stay put..!

ahum.. sry.. its just anoying..

how do i make the moron stay in the DeVries system..?

I suggest you get the 5km range scanning mod; it made checking stations WAY less annoying for me. :)

1) You don't need to, when you speak with the ship dealer to get your ship repaired your ship will automatically dock at the construction yard
2) Talk to the ship dealer
3) Talk to the ship dealer (ship can be anywhere in the universe)
4) Download and install this mod: Manual Command Extension http://xrebirth.nexusmods.com/mods/59/?
5) Download and install this mod: Improved Fleets (this tells you what action the ship is doing at the time it's given the order)

6) He repairs all parts at the same time but some are slower than others to repair. If you have construction drones on your cap ship the repair goes faster.

I would add to the above post.

If a ship dealer does not list the ship that you want repaired/sold, you have to find one that sells the same kind of ship.

Also, hull repairs were not working last time I tried it. The dealer took my money, the ship docked, but when it said "finished" nothing was fixed. Download Notepad++, open the savegame and search for:
owner="player" knownto="player"

Scroll down until you fund a line starting with the word "hull" and delete that line and the two below it. !!!Backup you savegame first!!!

Save the file and reload it in game.
This is cheating, but if you have paid and waited for repairs that did not work, it is justified.

Doesn't seem to be working so well right now... hopefully will work as you say when the patch comes out!
My favourite memory of the X series was babysitting that TL across half the universe in XTension and finally arriving in Getsu Fune to be gifted the TL! I called her Big Bad Orca...

will having more then one engineer on a cap ship speed up the repair process?

More engineering stars on the engineer speeds up repair. 4-5 star is crazy fast. Pretty sure only one of each possible crew per ship.

Oh, and fighters can get assigned to other captains through the comm menu. Or stations. Thats how you'll be able to make fleets and assign to cities you build. Bugged tho, so they dont do anything yet afaik.

You cannot, really ATM.

If you com the pilot of a fighter, new order, assign new commander; you can assign them to one of your big ships, but it does not work properly. The fighters will still follow you around, but they will not be targetable. Furthermore, they will sometimes open fire on you for brief bursts.

Best advice is to not bother with pilots or claiming fighters, at least until they get around to implementing the shipyards for them and the ability to stow them on carriers.

lets hope they dont take too long to implement that.. i have about 10 captured fighters atm.. :cry:

another question:

why cant i see the skills of some crew members and all the crewmembers i havent hired yet. it has all "?" on it.

do they gain skill as they work?

Nope, i mean yes get that mod its easy to use and gives everything and more but the functions are in the game already just.. well hidden :D

Most is accessible trough

Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> Click -> hope something happens.
And 75% of the time... nothing happens.

sadly it has come to this question.. *sigh*

is it possible to repair the cap ships engines by cheating with the save file or something..?
