[BUG?] Crazy missile behavior

Post by loubert »

I'm going to try to contain the plot elements of this explanation in spoiler tags. I included those details at all because they and/or the location might be relevant to the bug (if it is a bug at all, which I think it has to be).

So, I just started building the station in DeVries, and and am now killing Reivers after the mining ship jumped in. I just exited the highway in Lava Flow to "Patrol Lava Flow" for the mission.
After exiting the highway as instructed, I'm encountered by 4 or 5 enemies 10-11km away. I selected one and fired a Sunstalker.

Here's the bug(?) part: Instead of flying right at my selected enemy, it pulled a 180 and did some acrobatics behind me, THEN homed in on the enemy. Fired another, same thing: it turned around and flew behind me (in relation to the enemies, not my orientation (I was able to turn around and watch it without affecting its path)), THEN it flew forward and struck the enemy. I'm not near any asteroids and there is nothing between the enemies and myself which might cause the missile to take an avoidance path (do they even do that?).

It was actually pretty funny. I fired the first missile and it flew behind me, and I laughed. I was like, "What the... where do you think YOU'RE going!? The bad guys are THAT WAY!" lol

Same thing happens with boarding pods if you disable a fighter or small freighter, had one run 10km the wrong way and disappear, another I thought I lost came back a few minutes later and finally docked and dropped off the pilot, I nearly missed the whole thing.
