pilots are slaves?

When we cap a ship of any type we add our own crew. Then if we want to sell it later on, we dock and take the crew back off, easy simple to understand. BUT fighters patrol ships and light freighters need only a pilot, but when we want to sell those the pilot goes too. Considering the very low prices for used fighters and small ships its a losing proposition. The pilot is hired (owned) by us, not the ship hes on. If we sell the ship, he should be returned to us. If its destroyed then of course thats different, but losing pilots that were paid for, many times losing money as well, just isnt right.
