Does X3:R support multi-core machines?
Does X:R support multi-core machines? I have feeling it only uses a single core, on my i7 the cpu usage is like around 14-15. Which is about a single core.
I did finally installed fraps to show fps and mine is usually around 25fps.. I guess its ok to play, but horrible for i7/gtx760/16gb.
I have a feeling as with all x games, cpu is the bottleneck.

hi
Is it confirmed or not if X3 Reunion have support for multiple cores?
I heard some rumors that it use 1 core in player sector and other cores in other sectors but I have no clue.
Was thinking of upgrading some parts like possessor and graphic card for playing Reunion but no point before I know for sure what components that will give me any improvements.

None of the previous X games had multi-core support.

Re: Does X:R support multi-core machines?
You can use a tool like process explorer to see the load on individual cores. I think most multicore games like to use one for most of the stuff, and utilize the other cores to a lesser degree.some1 wrote:Does X:R support multi-core machines? yep, it's the same type of multicore in games in arma 3. modern tech force fitted on ancient engines.lplates wrote:Yes.
However due to looooots of bugs most people have rubbish FPS.
I have the same as you but 20GB Ram, no pagefile and Game installed on SSD.
Still get FPS around 10 in most cases.
except if your computer is really good. i5 3570k and above, arma 3 is still pretty smooth and you can still easily get 60+ fps, but x rebirth still lags with 30 fps average.

If you look closely you'll see that X3 is probably using only 25% on each of your four cores--basically, the Windows task scheduler is switching the X3 main thread between the cores to even out the load; it doesn't mean the game is actually using more than 100% of one core to do its job, though.yoyolll wrote:Ok so I don't get it. It looks like X3 is using all four real cores. What's with all the stuff about they had to redesign the engine because it only used one core?
