Help - 1.16 - After I buy (build ) a ship (rahanas) , I cannot dock to it.

Do I have to wait a while after she says its constructed before I can put a captain on it?

I wish it could do basic commands without a captain so I could move it to where i want and then dock with it to plant the captain.
