[BUG or WAI?] Ship influence when they go into jump/boost mode

I decided to piggy back on my mining ship(has no Landing area) and assigned him to a manager, I decided to sit right on top of him so that my ship would go ( barbecue of ship influence) where he did to see if he bugged out and idled.


He decided that he needed to go into Boost/jump mode to go to the next zone, It was very scary because I got pulled along with him. I had to struggle to keep my ship inside his influence for fear of getting bucked off and abandoned in space far away from any highways.

It was actually quite fun after I got to safety but now I am wondering what would happen if I left his influence sphere(if possible), I am to scared to try again.

Anyway is this a bug/glitch or WAI?

What happens if I am inside a enemy ships influence when he decides to boost to get away do I go along for the ride?
