FPS increase after uninstalling ffdshow

I am unsure as to whether this will help or muddy the waters. In days gone by codecs used to have an impact on the X games. Especially when ffdshow was in the mix.

I had a fiddle about and using fraps performed some tests. Graphics settings were on default, 1920 x 1080 resolution. I use the Better Cockpit mod. And the tests were done twice with a reboot before each run. Visual themes and Desktop Composition disabled on the XRebirth.exe properties.

I started a new free play game and noted the fps once fully seated.
With ffdshow 33fps
Without ffdshow 39fps
Gain of 18%

I then flew forward and down to the right to get a view of empty space making sure the planet wasn’t visible and came to a dead stop.
With ffdshow 47fps
Without ffdshow 64fps
Gain of 36%

I then turned round and looked at the station I had just left trying to frame the station the same way each time.
With ffdshow 31fps
Without ffdshow 33fps
Gain of 6%

i7 4770k @ 3.50GHz
GTX 660 (foc) 331.82 drivers
8 GB Ballistix CL9 @ 1866MHz
Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro (USB)
Win 7 x64 SP1

The difference isn’t earth shattering but it makes things a little bit smoother.
