Some details for post-boarding mission issues (such as missing Rahanas)

Relevant issues:
* The Rahanas you're given earlier in the game isn't returned to you.
* You are unable to assign the captain you picked up to the Taranis.

The save starts with you directly above the Taranis and shortly after the mass jump. Attempting to assign your captain to the Taranis shows a grayed out box that can't be selected. Following the mission and the ensuing conversation about your ships being returned and being given a Constructor you'll find that while the Constructor has been added to your owned properties, the Rahanas has not.

The only other potentially relevant information I can think of is the fact that when you're instructed to hire a captain for the Rahanas, I didn't hire the one it targeted for me, but instead a Teladi elsewhere in the station.

I can confirm. I have the same bug. Can't put a new captain in the Taranis and the Rahanas is not delivered back to me either.

I made the same mistake of hiring a random captain rather than the one the quest marker pointed to because I had not noticed that there was a quest marker for the captain.

I really dont want to start all over now. I spend the entire weekend, 20+ hours worth of gameplay, playing this game. I hope this bug is fixed stat.

Add the ship to your squad BEFORE trying to assign a captain.

Taranis captain and returning a ship may be unrelated.
(but I did also get random captain and never put it to taranis, its having some "default" captain)

I had same position savegame and had 1/4 chance to get rahanas back.
(lucky I see that promised ship was not returned early, and on second reply get the ship, but I did not save in time, so wasted another 6 times to fly there to get it back again).

you need to go in gate zone from other direction.

You can't assign a captain to the Taranis because it already has one. I did the mission a few hours again and I had the same problem, but when I checked the ships's info it already had a captain.
