What did you think of ST:Nemisis?

Post by Colonel Bumfluff »

Sorry I know I may be behind the times but I just saw it at the movies (only came out in Australia last thursday). I thought it was a decent movie (a little sad at the end :( ). I wonder 'if' there will ever be another one? I hope something in the Star Trek world comes out soon to continue the timeline after Voyager (I'm not even going to mention that which is the series Enterprise and Captain Quantuum Boring) because after this movie the Star Trek world will be rather quiet.

And please could fans of Star Wars ONLY think twice about posting I'm looking for OPINIONS not bias. And yes I AM a fan of Star Wars too. :)

The film was all right--it suffered a bit from preaching to the converted, IMHO; there were a lot of references to stuff that only a true-blue Trekker would care about (Riker and Troi getting hitched, for example). Patrick Stewart has gone on record as saying this is the last Star Trek film he'll do, so I think we can rest assured that the Next Gen cast has seen their last silver screen time--who knows what the producers will do next? Let's just hope it doesn't involve making a Voyager film; I've watched Star Trek for more years than I care to remember, but Voyager was the one series where I simply gave up on it because it so unremittingly terrible.

i think voyagers the best. The film was confusing in the scientific bits but there is alot of action, i give it a 8/10.

The films to date have all contained one character that has always been overlooked! It's starred along side Kirk and Picard, and will star along side the new guy!

ENTERPRISE!

The ship picks the film and so ST:E will form the next movie - logically!

Personally I thought the film was disjointed with shoddy direction. The plot started well but moved at a snails pace and didn't really go anywhere. Such a shame too, because I think the film had huge potiential - in the end it just felt like an average shootemup game where you progress to the next level and save the world.
And to top it all off it looks like the Federation and Romulans will be friendly from now on - pants!

Wrath of Kahn, Undiscovered country and first contact are still the best trekkie films.

I heard a while back that this was to be the last NextGen movie.
And that it was HIGHLY unlikely they would be making a DS9 movie, That story is complete they don't want to tag on any naff sideline at the end to mess things up.

So I guess that probably means Voyager will do the next movie (maybe the next two or three) before they hand things over to Enterprise.

I wouldn't mind a Voyager movie, quite liked Voyager, (well the later seasons anyway.)

EDIT : oh yea, what did I think of Nemesis?
It was ok, though not the best.
"Wrath of Khaan" and "First Contact" I think were the best.

my understanding from internet readings (not the most reliable sources granted) is that prior to Nemesis, there were no plans, at all for any future star trek movie in ANY of the existing franchises. no voyager, no ds9, no nextgen, nothin. The plan as I understood it was to continue the Star Trek movie franchise, but with something completely new. which of course brought up all the old rumors of a Adventures of Capt Sulu on the Excelsior movie and the Young Indiana- er I mean Young Kirk and Co at Starfleet Academy. These of course, just rumors from fans. no one really has any idea at all what the next movie will be, but the consensus PRIOR to nemesis was that there would be future star trek movies, just no one knows what about yet.

Now that we are in the POST Nemesis period, that may have changed. based on 1) i haven't paid attention or bothered to look it up, and 2) nemesis did so poorly at the US box office paramount may decide to just throw in the towel. at least for awhile.

we'll just have to wait and see

and of course if anybody has more recent info or differing please correct me
