The Startrek Enterprise in my X2 - The Threat

I imported a one texture, low polygon count Enterprise as an exercise to try out the Mod kit. I can say it is working as stated, once I exported my simple model and placed it into the game.

Please be kind to my efforts :D , I am learning as I go along and 3DSMax does have a steep learning curve. In case one wants to know what I did, I just renamed the exported file to 04170.bod which is the Argon Nova just to get the screen shots. I disabled the existing 04170.bob file so the 2 files won't clash, created myself a Nova per scripting in a well lit sector and took some screenshots. Then I went touring into other sectors to see how the Enterprise looks there. My efforts can be seen in the page above.

I look forward to the day i can capture my first shuttlecraft from the deck of my very own battlestar galactica...... keep up the good work it will pay off.

What version of 3DSMAX are using?
Oh and how much experience do you have using 3DSMAX? I found that the learning curve was extremely difficult too when I started using 5.0. There is just so much you can do with the program.
Guess what? I've named a boil on my arse after you. It too bothers me everytime I sit down.

I use version 5.0 of 3DStudio Max. You are right, the program is very complicated and I am learning on it as I am not a 3D expert.

For me I did the exercise only to see if it is possible to get anything different then the XTension 3D models into the game. If it had been a 747 jumbo jet instead of the Enterprise, it would have been ok for me.

Others I spoke too about 3DMax, they said it takes a few months working with it to get some sort of experience with it and I think they are right. I still have some months to go then. :wink:

I'm pretty sure the Sovvy fits through the gate. It's only a 700-meter ship, after all.. the Argon M2 (Titan) is bigger AFAIK.

It is easy to adjust the size of a model in the .bod file's code just like the GFX manual in the X2 Modding Kit says. That is what I did for the Enterprise. Initially she was as small as a Nova, I cranked up its size to 3 times the size of a Boron Shark, then tried out if she still fits through a gate.

No problemo, as Arnie would say :wink:

For those trying out sizes on 3D models, I used around 900 000 for it, a M3 class ship would be around the 4000 - 6000 mark.
