X3 AP/TC Now very choppy - Fixed by disabling Win8 Power-save mode.

Hello All,

I was wondering if someone can help me here. I just did a brand new fresh install of Windows 8 onto a ssd drive, reinstalled all the drivers, and my Steam folder is on a seperate HDD (actually never moved, just reinstalled the game/steam again on the same HDD).

I used to be able to play the game flawlessly at 1680x1050 resolution,

now i can barely play it at all, with or without AA/AF on. I have it set on medium distance, high / high...same settings i had before the fresh install. Every few seconds the game stutters, plays normally, stutters, repeat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE
ASROCK 870 Extreme 3 mobo
8 gb DDR3 1333 Ram
EVGA GTX 260 896meg
Sandisk Ultra 120gb HD (operating system)
WD Black 640gb 7200rpm (game)

AAAAAAAAAND of course it's always the simplest fix which helps....


my PC was set on power saver mode. I turned it onto performance mode...

smooth as butter.
