New idea for modders, and for Egosoft. Hiding ships in mesnu

Post by Lutzie »

Anyway, the idea is this:

I think there should be a function to make an object "hidden" within the properties owned screen, just like Satelittes, so that you can view only ones you're "working" with. Owning 40 ships would be harsh when all you want to do is monitor the new SPP you've set up and the two ships you're playing around with.

Just like in Windows Explorer, the way you can make unused folders hidden. And obviously you can make them visable at the click of a button.

That would be neat if they ever get around to giving the interface proper mouse support. I wouldn't mind being able to see a list of sectors or stations, and being able to "expand" items on it to see all ships in or belonging to it.

Or at least the option to show/hide each class of ship. I wouldn't mind being able to toggle off TP and TS ships when I'm trying to work with my military ships.

Early in one of my first games I tried out a script that automatically places an advanced satelite in every single system.
Having around a hundred of those showing up in my ships list, quickly made me think twice about using that particular "cheat" :). It was a serious pain in the ass (can I say that here? ;)) to locate the few actual ships I had on that list.

But you can turn off Satelittes so that they don't appear.

Mouse support wouldn't need to be improved.
In the ship details, like under homebase, they could add in an option:
Property Owned Tag: Hidden/Shown
and in the property owned screen where the satelitte togle is add in a another toggle, show hidden stuff, yay/nay.
They could even add in multiple levels.

Property Owned Tag: Level1/Level2/Level3/Level4

Show Level 1: yay/nay
Show Level 2: yay/nay
Show Level 3: yay/nay
Show Level 4: yay/nay

Enabling complete filtering. Put all M1's under Level 1, all M2's under Level 2 etc, and have default as Level 0.
