X3:AP 'Free' Download?...

Post by Viper-1 »

Hi there,

Quite some time ago I bought the X:Superbox. Not sure if I bought it from an online shop or a regular shop, but certainly not through Steam.

After not having t played for ages, I happened to read somewhere that X3:AP was out, so decided to check it out.
To my surprise, it said the following on the AP section of the Egosoft site:
If you buy the X: Superbox, or already own it, X³: Albion Prelude will be available as a free download via Steam.
So I went down to Steam, created an account and expected to be able to download AP for free there, as it said on the site. But I never received an option to enter my Community Key or register in any other way that I already own the SuperBox, so I had to pay for the download.

I did add the community key to my forum profile here.
And like I said, I did not buy the SuperBox through Steam. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but if you ask me, it shouldn't.

Any ideas as to how to proceed?

Thanks in advance.
~ Viper.

The Steam client doesn't know about your registration here, nor does it automatically present you with a place to enter your code. You have to go into the Steam client and choose Activate a Product on Steam from the Games menu. You can then enter your registration code, which will make all the games in the Superbox package, including X3AP, availailable for download. All this information and more, including instructions on minimising your download, is in the sticky threads at the top of the main X Universe forum and in the Steam section of our FAQ.

If you've already paid to download it again, however, I'm not sure there's an awful lot we can do to help you. You could try contacting Steam and seeing if they'd issue you a refund, but I don't think they'd be under any obligation to do so.
