Approved Signed Scripts

Post by Howlingmad »

Where will the Egosoft Approved and Signed off Scripts, be available from?

Will there be a section on the Egosoft webstie to download them from.

Are all scripts not signed by Egosoft, even if not cheats, going to force the game into 'Modified' mode?

I'm refering to scripts like the Alt_Separated_HQ_Script, or the Station Accountant 3.5 Revised or even XaiCorp:Trade Command Software MK1.v1.1a (fixed)?

good question

I have used the Station Accountant 3.5 and Osprey scripts and now that I have patched to ver 1.3 my new saved games have a * instead of saying 1.3. I assume this means it is a modified game.

Which means you can no longer play the plot.

Anyone know for sure the answers to the questions?

Well I finished the plot a long time ago so that wouldn't bother me at all.

BTW I just loaded up an unmodified game and then saved it under 1.3 and it still shows up as a " * " instead of "1.2" on the save/load screen so I really don't know how you tell if a save is 1.3 or modified.

The "*" means the the game has been patched to the current build. If you've got saves like that, the asterisk just means that you're patched to 1.3 in those saves.

Quote from ReadMe 1.3:

"Ability to play a modified game (custom map, custom scripts, custom shiptypes etc.). In this mode the story plot of X2 is deactivated and the game shows a small "modified" overlay logo on the screen."

What that logo is I do not know.

Ok thanks! I missed that part in the readme.

I guess those two scripts are ok then. :)

edit:

Ok now I see how to tell.

There is a faint "modified" displayed on the screen in the upper left hand corner.

I was able to load and save my 1.2 saved game with Teladi Ospreys without getting the "modified" logo, but as soon as I activate the scripting tool it puts a modified logo in the corner.

The Osprey seems to work but the Station accountant didn't without initializing it which caused the "modified" to appear.

That is just plain ridiculous. The plot gets turned off because we use Station Accountant? WTF?

Not that I think that losing the plot is such a great loss, but since apparently the ONLY time you EVER get to see a Khaak M2 or M1 is with the plot, I was waiting until I had a destroyer so I could go unleash some righteously deserved death on the bloody Khaak.

And now Ego decided "nope, no more plot for you, hahaha!"

I think this decision just takes it all. And what the hell for? This is a SINGLE PLAYER game? Who are you hurting by running a script? Hell, if you want to script yourself 480 billion credits, park five destroyers in every sector and blow everything to frigging hell, THEN do the plot, who is Ego to say "Nope, you can't do that" ???

This is a BS decision.

The more I think about it the only thing I really care about is having the "modified" in the corner all the time. I just don't want to look at it all the time.

I'm already done with the storyline so I don't care about that part.

As far as Station accountant goes, I think that that script is worthy of being part of the patch. To me it is the single best script out and it fills a glaring weakness in the game. Moving credits from your stations to your account really sucks without it.

The plot is NOT turned off in a normal game even when you use scripts.
The plot IS deactivated if you start a new game in a "custom universe" (or load a savegame that was started in a "custom universe" ;) )

Custom universe means loading a map that was created/modified in the Galaxy Editor.

Can you just clarify this.

If my game has the 'modified' overlay in the corner does that mean the plot is dissabled, or does it just mean I've got the scripting editor enabled from an old game?

Having the modified logo does not disable the plot. It just means you're running scripts, or have activated the script editor, or have selected mods to include in the startup screen (loading from the mods folder)

The only thing that disables the plot is making changes to the map files by using the galaxy editor (or loading a custom map someone else has created). This is of neccessity since if you change the galaxy, and move things around, there's no guarantee that th plot would continue to function normally.

Thank you for your response BurnIt!

But could you please answer the question, why we have to have the Modified Logo on screen the whole time we are running scripts that help the game run as it should? This detracts from the immersion factor by a huge percentage.

:) I can confirm that the plot still runs when it says modified as I moved my save games into a different folder and restarted the game.
It still said modified but I did the first 3 quest with all my usual scripts running as usual.
No problems so far and 3 quests done must mean that you can still do the plot with scripts alright.
PS is there anymore to the plot or not after Omicron Lyrea.

You can see the big Khaak ships if you have played long enough and get the Intellience briefing that gives you the location of the Khaak Sectors.

I took a look at one and found 2 Carriers and 3 Destroyers and a Station.

Destroyed the station and barely escaped before the two destroyers started to take out my Boron Ray Destroyer.

If you played the plot it gives you the locations of the Khaak Sector(s)--or maybe only one -- that was a LONG time ago. After taking out the big Khaak in the final plot twist I just kept building and expanding.

Ran into problems with the Xenon J --invisible and unhittable until Version 1.3 was released.
