A Steam Free run of X3AP.EXE

Post by Cowski »

Read somewhere that to run X3AP.exe "steam free" (as to not get any of the updates which foul up saved games yet they are blamed on the user...but that is another story) all I have to do is copy the folder to another location & it'll run steam free. Did that...didn't work.

Is there a way to run X3AP.exe without steam sticking it's "non-backwards compatible" nose into my PAID FOR game? :?

Thanks!

Moved to Universe forum. Please do not start or continue another 'love/hate Steam' thread here as there is a thread specifically for that in the Rebirth forum.

Understood. < Embarrassed at being scolded> <Actually that was a warning to follow-on posters rather than the OP. Alan Phipps>

Thanks for the info.

drill down to your steam folder find steamapps then common once your in the common folder you'll see X3 Terran Conflict (even if you only have albion prelude installed. Now copy the whole X3 folder to anywhere outside the steam folder, then copy the nosteam exe into the Terran conflict folder. run and enjoy. you can do this as many times as you want to run keep separate version of your game if you like to run different mods. Head down to scripts and modding section find the save game manager to juggle the different saves though as no matter where you have your x3 folder all versions of your game will save to your documents folder/egosoft/saves
