Bugged Station Construction Mission?

Post by jopejope »

I have this station construction mission I can't complete. I've done dozens of station construction missions, but this one won't work for some reason.

I have to build a Paranid Particle Accelerator Cannon Forge in Circle of Labour.

I have a Particle Accelerator Cannon Forge in my Mammoth (purchased at the Paranid Shipyard in Third Redemption) and I built the thing right on top of their navigational beacon (lined up perfectly on all axis), and they just won't take the station. I've saved and reloaded several times, but it just won't work.

This is a war mission. I got it from some Argon NPC at a mining outpost in Asteroid Belt.

I have triple-checked the station is in fact a Paranid Particle Accelerator Cannon Forge. It takes Soja Husk as an input. The mission definitely asks for a Paranid Particle Acelerator Cannon Forge in the briefing.

What do I do? I could abandon the mission, but that is unsatisfying. Plus then I will have this PAC forge sitting in my mammoth cargo hold that I don't want.

Can you reload to before you personally went IS in Circle of Labour? The reason I ask is that sometimes the mission script puts the beacon too close to another object and when you go IS the collision detection routine makes the beacon move elsewhere. Unfortunately the new location is wrong for the mission which has stored the coords for the original location.

If you reload to before you even accepted the mission you should get a new location next time around.

If you can only reload to after you have accepted the mission, you need to get another ship of yours (not your personal ship which must stay OOS for now) to be in that sector so that you can remotely see the original beacon position and note down its coords so that when you do go IS you can drop the station near the correct point to complete the mission even if the beacon gets moved.

So you're saying that the navigational beacon can move, and the mission wants me to place it on its own specific coordinates and NOT near the navigation beacon?

I will see if one of my saves is before I went in sector. It's hard to say because I often take station missions and then do them a while later, so I may have inadvertently visited that sector at some point.

Yes it is a conflict of script intentions.

One says 'I want you to put the station here and I'll place a beacon there as a marker to help you', while another script says 'Oh dear, things are dangerously close to each other' as you enter sector and so it decides to help by moving the smaller one to a safer place. Both are trying to do their job and be helpful, with unintended consequences for you.

Oh and I just noticed that you have already posted this and been advised in the X-Universe forum. Please do not double post the same thing in two places.
