Apologies if this has been previously reported, but I couldn't find any mention by searching.
I recently purchased AP on steam summer sales so I assume it should be updated to the latest version (keep product fully updated is selected in the client) but I seem to be experiencing a bug - when I take on a 'Follow that Ship' mission, I will get as far as the system where the target ship is, come to within the requisite 16km or so, but instead of the target leaving its scripted patrol and taking the route I'm supposed to follow, it just stops dead in space and stays there, seemingly indefinitely - longer than I can be bothered hanging around for at least (time is money!).
Is this a known bug? Is there some way of fixing it? Or should I just ignore these missions for the time being?
There is no crash or message or anything, so it is just an inconvenience.
Cheers.

Yes it happens now and again in vanilla X3AP and X3TC, especially if the ship cannot work out how to get to a suitable target station in range by an accessible route for it (usually but not always to a Pirate-owned/visited station). (Terran sectors are really bad for this.) Sometimes the target station gets killed/removed during the mission but before the player activates the ship and so it cannot report a mission failure in time.
A workaround is to land/save before accepting that type of mission and then reload if it is bugged and so hope for a different ship/sector/location/target station next time of asking for it, or just avoid taking the mission next time.

Thanks
I haven't got to the Terran sectors, this is just around the Argon Prime area. Tried what you suggested - landed to save before accepting, and that sometimes seems to work. If it doesn't work the second time I let it slide.
I don't usually take on many of these sorts of missions anyway as they can take a long time, but they are good for discovering new areas
They're also one of the easiest to do in a rubbish ship with virtually no money
Cheers for the quick response.
