Game continues to crash after playing for a while

I have had a problem with x3tc crashing on my laptop, occasionally it caused a blue screen, have updated video and sound drivers and game has crashed twice more. The game is steam version and I have verified the integrity of the game cache. It is usually crashing mid-combat, but will sometimes crash upon completion of a mission right before I get the mission completion audio. I am presently playing on the Terran Start. Upon game crashing I have received the generic "program has stopped working" message. DxDiag is as follows:

There have been quite a few reports of problems from people with your specific CPU. Apparently there is some sort of timing issue with it, which can generally be fixed with a BIOS update. Of course that depends on the manufacturer having issued such an update, and on your confidence in applying it!

believe I saw a BIOS update when I was looking for the video and sound drivers, will try that.
