X3 AP Boron Equipment Dock Fail

Post by genarus »

Every time i undock from a boron equipment dock i some how crash into the undock doors or i exploded for no apparent reason. And this goes for every non capital ship that i have used at the boron equipment dock. No other station does this excpt for these particular ones. And this was tested on 2 different computers.

regardless of what i try to do i always hit the undock doors or something on the way out. I have survived once with only 7%HP in a Heavy Centaur fully shielded

Hi,

as a workaround you can try to undock with the order "dock at ...", as far as I know this can help.

My ships can dock at it not a problem at all but undocking is the issue. now sending a ship to dock then undock is fine if your not in that system but as soon you are there its bumpbumpbump boom! so either in a ship or sending on there doesn't change it unless your not in the same system.

yes, when you want to undock you just don´t undock but use the command "dock at ...". As soon as you are in space you can fly where you want.

Just stay on the ship and you can use the commands fly to, jump to, or idle as well as dock at. You can safely take back control once clear of the station or just let it do the command while you have a break.

so.... that works but now your telling me that the undock feature by its self does not work properly at all for that station type. is this a known issue? And will there be a fix for it?

the fix for this should have been included in a patch quite some time ago... :? Could somebody tell me where the body file of the EQD is located in AP (folderstructure and file name) ? I'll make make a mod with the fix in it then.

I've often wondered why they felt it necessary to include the lethal tadpoles od death that swirl around the Boron equipment dock. The station looks fine without them.

It's not because of those swirling things... It's just that the collision mesh of the station blocks a part of the visual opening

Edit:  ok i just saw the trailer of AP again and it looks like the model of those swirling things are upscaled quite a bit - so instead of rotating tightly around the stationbody like on the original (XTC mod) they are far off in space :D Guess somebody at ES screwed that up a little bit.

Are you sure that they are the cause of it, or is it the invisible wall like described?

The swirly rotating space flies are not the cause of any damage I have noticed during many hours of game time.

The actual dock has been blowing up ships in TC also, so it looks like the mesh or wall you mentioned is the cause.

I use http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=321044 from Gazz's collection. It affects the player ship also and can lead to a few nervy moments as your ship hurtles at full speed through a stations superstructure :)

One other point, would altering the scene file and using a fake patch cause games to be modified?

So, let's keep this discussion 'vanilla', or I'll have to lock it.

I can confirm that they are indeed tadpoles of death. I don't know if this is a recent change or not; in the past I tried to get hit by them and I thought for sure that they passed right through my ship. But tonight when I was experimenting with them in my Hyperion I discovered that they do hit your ship and cause it to explode. Guaranteed insta-death. So yeah; I don't know what's up with that. :o

I HATE to necropost, however this topic isn't TOO old and frankly it's still relavent.

Those...swirly green murder balls are STILL murderous. I thought 'Maybe those are spaceflys' and moved into their path on an undock on purpose. Imagine my suprise when my TM's health dropped shield and half armor, then to death after another hit.

What ARE those things? WHY are they there? Are the boron secretly evil or something?

I noticed a similar problem in X3TC with the Hyperion Vanguard. The dock door closed before I could exit, effectively locking me inside the station, and simultaneously colliding with me, ensuring death.
