X3TC - Mouse sensitivity problem - Mouse slow. MS Wireless Mouse 5000
Hi,
JESUS ****** CHRIST! My Computer is a Win7 machine with an MS Wireless 500 mouse. A GTX-570 NVidia card, I7-2600k processor. What happened?
I did a bit of checking why X3TC sometimes stutters. Not a sereous problem btw.. Runs pretty fine in 1920x1200, best quality, VSync on, solid 60 fps...
I turned Hyperthreading in BIOS off, checked X3 again, well, no real change but still alright. BUT the mouse moved very slow. OK, turned HT on again - Mouse still slow!
To be precise: in order to move the mouse from left to right, 1920 pixels, it has to be moved 5,5 centimeters. That is a lot. MS Intellipoint changes of mouse speed do not apply here btw.
Serious degrading of game joy detected, what can I do?
Michael

If a BIOS change to hyperthreading definitely caused the issue but reversing that change does not correct it then I am really out of my depth. Personally I leave BIOS well alone except for manufacturer's updates using the supplied mobo tools.
Logic (not knowledge) says that the mouse driver was being run with priority and without interrupts before the change and was being interrupted by another process after the change. Re-enabling HT has not caused the driver or the interrupting process to change back to its original thread. Perhaps doing a (different) thread/core affinity for the mouse driver might help?

Hmm, I was to sensitive I think
OK I played it for a while, and I got used to it again. I think I was wrong, mouse speed was slow before I changed BIOS.
Sorry for that, new situation: It would be nice if the mouse would be as sensitive as in Windows. But I have no hope this can be changed, because I read a few threads. Logitech setpoint people are probably more lucky, because I read they can change the sensitivity for applications. MS Intellipoint can't.

you might try zero.inreality wrote:Sorry, yes I have: no matter if 4 or 1 pre rendered frames, mouse movement left to right needs 5.5 cm here.
also, have you increased the mouse's acceleration in windows control panel?
and this? 1. Using the mouse that you want to configure, start IntelliPoint.
(Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Mouse, and then click Microsoft Mouse.)
2. On the Pointer Options tab, under Motion, clear/unclear the Enhance Pointer Precision check box to turn on/off mouse acceleration.

I'm almost out of ideas.inreality wrote:Both: No effect - mouse as slow as before. Also I read in some thread that Intellipoint/Windows mouse options have no effect on X3...
Almost.
Do you have a spare mouse that isn't intellipoint? Any cheap mouse will do.
And, have you tried uninstalling the Intellipoint software and using generic, or safe mode, drivers instead?
Third, increase the intellipoint executable's priority in task manager.
Forth, there is a way to increase the polling rate of your mouse. It is complicated but is a rather popular mod. I'll leave you to google this one.
