Question about STEAM and War Pack

Hi,

I recently purchased X3-War Pack. I downloaded it from GameFly/Direct2Drive thinking it wouldn't be like the STEAM version. However, when I installed it I found that it loads up STEAM. Although I do have a STEAM account, I was not wanting this game to be on STEAM.

With A-10 I downloaded from STEAM, but was then able to download the actual files from the company. I was able to use the registration code and still have access to my game without needing STEAM.

Is it possible to do the same with X3 War Pack?

I think I may have found the answer in a thread below. Either I can install STEAM on my other computer, which doesn't have the itnernet or move the files over. Seems like a bit much though. Oh well, it is what it is....thanx.

All versions of the game, even the DVD, require Steam. See our Steam FAQ for more information. If you have particular technical difficulties with Steam that can't be resolved otherwise, we do provide a NoSteam EXE (again, see the FAQ for details) but it is unsupported and we do not recommend using it unless you have to for some reason.

Hi,

I guess I'm confused. I have the X3 - War Pack. But right now I'm only playing X3 Terran Conflict before I play Albion Prelude. Would I need a NoSteam.exe for Terran Conflict? Thanx for your response.

I have another question regarding the WAR PACK. Since it contains both of the games TC and AP. Is there a particular reason not to play AP first? I don't do any of the plot...or haven't yet. I've just been trading in TC.

I'm not very good yet, but do have about 5mil in cr and a few M3's doing some Sector Trading. I've purchased a Wheat Factory to try that out as well.

Just trying to figure out how all this stuff works. But I guess my question is, why do this in TC rather than AP if they're the same?

no serious reasons really, especially if you are not interested in the plots

btw dont use M3's for sector traders - thats the job for TS ships

I'm sorry I meant TS's. They are Mercury's. I got my classifications wrong.
