Crash after steam-before launch window

So i've played x3:TcAp for a week or so and logged 122 hours on it so far, its cool. but i wanted to try and expand the play with some mods, mostly ship mods, but i also did advanced races think its called, which if i don't install that after the ships it messes up. somewhere in all this i messed something major up.

The steam "preparing to launch" window briefly pops up, then....nothing

it no longer goes to the X3:AP window to launch game change settings.

i've verfieied the game cache multiple times, i've also reinstalled the game, ap alone and both together. took quite awhile, but still no change.

If i launch the game from the plugin manager it comes up with an error.

If it was working fine before the mods then I would expect that the changes you have made have caused a problem.

Check on the scripts and modding forum to see if there are any known issues with that mix of changes.

I doubt that we can help very much as we only deal with the unmodded game in this forum.

To reinstall the game properly you must uninstall the games (TC and AP) and also delete their games folders in the steamapps, common. Then install from retail or download from Steam to get back to vanilla. Otherwise any modified files will not be removed by just the uninstall and will mess up your reinstall too. Your modified gamesaves will probably not work after that.

Once back to working vanilla you can either stay there or make a complete vanilla game folder copy as a backup and then apply your mods one at a time, testing the game for stability after each mod. If it breaks, then the last mod installed is the issue and you need to find the correct way to install or edit it to work (if it can with X3AP). Otherwise you can copy/rename your back-up copied folder to easily get back to vanilla and start off modding again.
