get some mosquito missles and target the mines then fire until its safe to get close scan the 2 end bits of the gates and away you go

missiles or if you have a well shielded ship just fly close and shoot with lasers.

Welcome!

Moved to X-Universe forum.

Several methods for this:

1) From a distance of 4lm or so, fire some missiles at the mines and blow them up. You will need to do this 3 or 4 times.

2) As above, but use drones

3) By fair means or foul, enourage another ship to fly through the mines for you (entice a pirate / order a TL)

After the above, get close to the nacelles, eject from your ship, and fly to within 50m of each one. YOu should get lucky when scanning the 2nd one...

I keep getting stuck here. All I have is an M5 Discoverer and an unshielded M4 Mercury, so flying close isn't an option. I've tried missles, but it seems to take MANY MANY missles to destroy all the mines. I am also trying fighter drones, but when I target a mine and order them to attack my target, they don't do anything. They just stay close to me in formation, even if I'm only 2km from a mine. I've also tried the command "attack all enemies", but then they go after the nearest pirate, not the mines.

Suggestions? How do I get the fighter drones to attack the stupid mines?

Ignore the mision, go trade, fight, buy a Nova, equip it with 25MW shields, ram the mines. Bwaha.

Purchase wasp missles in ore belt. 5 should be enough

stop about 7 km from the get so that it looks like the letter O

move your target selector around the outside of the gate and thru the middle of the gate. pressing t as you go kill any mine you find.

Then fly off to the side of the gate till it looks like an I.

so the same.

This has cleared the mines for me about 10 times in the last year of testing

Instead of ordering the drone to attack your target just use the attack option, this brings up the sector map and you can select the mine.

Or you could just order the drones to "follow" the mine. As soon as the drone gets close to it, it will blow up destroying the drone and quite a few other mines around it. I needed 3 drones to clear the area :)
