X3TC
Argh! All kinds of irritating issues with just getting the joystick working properly!
Its a standard Logitech attack 3;
The biggest issue is setting a deadzone.
Issue 1: When setting the deadzone in the game to 10 or 15 %; it only sets the deadzone in one direction on each axis. to clarify; if i tap the joystick left slightly; my ship turns left rapidly. if i tap right the same way; nothing happens; the deadzone has been put there.
Issue 2: No way of reseting joystick centre in game.
Issue 3: I have the logitech profiler activated but when starting steam and the game it ignores/ovverides the settings in the profiler; so x3 uses its own settings.
Any fixes; knowledge, or links to a mod would be appreciated.
Thank you

This is actually not X3 - this is just plain ol' Logitech, at least as far as I can tell. X3 has a particular quirk where it exacerbates this issue, which tends to creep into any Logitech joystick that's been in use long enough. Here's the skinny -Model101 wrote:thank you very much for helping me out
yes; same deal; for some reason had to close the program to make it work![]()
A lot of people on here use the attack 3... has anybody else noticed that the deadzone setting in x3 is bugged? Try it yourself... it only works in one direction!
You need to run the Logitech Clear Calibration Utility (located here, because Logitech no longer hosts the file directly on their website, presumably because they don't want to cop to a defect in numerous products) after disconnecting your joystick from the computer.
From what I've read, what happens is that corrupted or otherwise damaged configuration and calibration data is saved into your calibration profile, at some point, and you can't remove it through normal means. Your calibration will be permanently bugged unless you clear the data out entirely - which requires that little tool.
I had this issue when I started playing X3TC, too - my deadzone on the right was way less present than my deadzone on the left, my ship drifted right constantly, and I couldn't even roll properly in one direction. Run that Clear Calibration Utility, then plug your joystick back in and re-do the calibration. When you start X3TC back up, I'd recommend setting the deadzone lower than you had it - chances are, your joystick will be a great deal more responsive now.
Hopefully, this works for you and helps you out - though, if it doesn't, then I'm sorry! Just make sure you used the right version of the tool for your OS. Good luck!

Seraph, you have saved me from potentially hundreds of hours of ever so slight frustration from random twitching for no reason. For this i sincerely thank you. Buy yourself a beer and pretend i paid for it?
Also in hindsight now i should have known better than to doubt the germans. Sorry egosoft.
Yeah the joystick has been looked after so i figured there was no reason for it to be playing up. Just a software issue.
As a result of this; i can now pass on this info to other people who encounter the same problem.
Thank you all.
