Well I just saw this new forum, so figured I'd start a thread for my Interrogator WIP. Couple of issues - this is really not a realtime model, so if I ever add it for X2 it'll have to be redone from mesh to texturing- plus I don't have 3ds max
Have to do a new render of the latest i'm like 90% done the initial texturing, then I have to fix up the basic texture in spots (not happy with some of the blue paint), then add some new details. And I have to rig some land gear, vectoring jets...but darnit I will finish!!!
I can get it into a MAX readable format in several ways I'm sure. .3ds, .obj etc... the problem is that you'll actually need to run 3ds MAX 5, with egosoft's plugin installed to export the max project into an X2 comaptible format. So you need MAX to make the actual X2 file, MAX executes the plugin. All your extra parameters specific to X2 I assume will also be entered in MAX (not sur e what is included - animation settings axis points, weapon mounting points?)

if it's int8e.jpg that you want to change, then i personally like the worn blue paint, makes it more real - like a commercial protection services craft that's been around the galaxy a few times, and ended up in the hands of a hard-up rock-hopper who is just scraping by.
maybe these ships were originally a failed teladi military desin, an adaption that had such a limited cargo space that they rejected it out of hand, but which nevertheless had potential as a cut-price bargain basement, a hardy stayer, with strong thrust and manoeverability

looked into the site, found the educational freebees are gmax6, how would that interface with max5, and the egosoft structures?

As WQP has said, GMax will not be adequote for the egosoft exporter, or at leaste compatable, considering the exporter isn't compatable with any version of 3Ds Max other than v5.1 (V6 no good, V4 no good etc) it is highly unlikely that Gmax will do the biz.
Cool ship btw, and it definately has a very X feel about it

FYI
Any version 5 of 3DSMax should work with EGO's dle exporter, mine is V5.0 and this works ok.
Ten times better than anything I've seen in X2 so far, though, I haven't played that far in X2 yet (friggin crashes *grumble*) so thats not the most authoritive of praise.
Excellent work. It gives me an excellent appreciation for scale as well with those missile bays. I also concur with the previous feedback about the worn blue paint.
