About two years ago, the4ce made a paper model of the Argon Buster from X3. I did some papercrafting at that time and found it pretty cool that someone did X papercrafts.
This motivated me to start creating a paper model of the Xperimental. I figured that this ship would be easier to build for beginners and also more interesting to fans of the games. I used the mesh from X3:R as a guideline and created a completely new mesh that was designed to be easily buildable. I even did a test build that looked pretty good in my opinion:

Then I stopped working on it since texturing the thing somehow demoralized me. I wanted to create a completely new, hig-res texture from scratch since the in-game texture wasn't really good for use in a paper model. The project rested somewhere on my hard drive until a week or so ago. When X:Rebirth was announced it motivated me to continue the project. I checked back in the forum and found out that the4ce had already created a paper model of the Xperimental from the original X2 mesh and textures one year ago.
Now I'm not sure if I should continue the work on my version. From the looks of it, my version should be a little smaller but more stable than the4ce's. I think it will be easier to build in most parts, but my cockpit seems to be a little harder. Also, I will create a completely new texture from scratch. I will take the X:BtF and X2 versions of the ship as guidelines but I'll try to make it look more realistic. The original version has the same texture patch on it over and over again. Mine will be a little more diverse.
Now it's your turn: Are you interested in another paper model of the Xperimental? Are you interested in status updates as I create the model? Are you willing to provide feedback and motivation so I find the will to carry on? If nobody cares for it, I'll perhaps finish it for my personal amusement anyway. But if there are other people interested in it, it will probably be finished faster and I'll have more fun doing it.
Xperimental paper model: Anyone interested in an alternative version?

To make it a little more interesting and to show what the look of the finished model might be, I have uploaded a part of the right wing:

If you print it at 300 dpi you can even build it
You're welcome to make suggestions on how to improve the look.
btw: the whole part is completely done with inkscape as a vector graphic. It contains no bitmap graphics. Everything is done with svg filter effects: http://c-quel.deviantart.com/art/Inksca ... -143226196
