whats the best ship?
What is the best ship in X3 terran conflict?
Something with great shields, and weapons.

There is no one best ship in the game. All ships have a role and specialty which may suit one player's style of play more than the other.
It's a delicate balancing act between the various ship statistics as well as costs and load out options of the ship. For instance the Teladi Phoenix may look like an excellent destroyer with it's superior shield capacity, if you are willing to deal with it's ponderously slow speed. On the opposite end of the spectrum there is the Split Python. It can leave other destroyers in the dust but had lackluster shields. Also each race has their own weapons compatibilities. The Terran and ATF ships just by pure statistics are far superior to their commonwealth counterparts, but are limited only to Terran weapons making equipping them difficult.

Depends what is defined as the best ship. I don't like flying cap ships so for me the best ship is usually and M3 or M6. But then I use my Katana to carry my personal M5/4/3 around with me so I can fly fast if needed.
If you want the big red "I Win" button ships most consider the Valhalla to be it.

I really don't like the vanilla Valhalla.TrixX wrote:If you want the big red "I Win" button ships most consider the Valhalla to be it.
1: It's butt ugly! What happened to that beautiful Valhalla from X3:R Xtended!? It got all mangled to hell!
2: Slow as molasses in space! A one legged Teladi can out run it!
3: Can't fit through gates! Kind of a major design oversight for the supposed super technologically advanced Terrans.
The only saving grace of it is that it is one of the only vanilla capital ships with external docks for M6/TS size ships.

Its been said before, not by me, but: the best ship is the ship that the player is in. No other ship of a similar class 1 on 1 can stand up to it, it will take overwhelming numbers to bring it down in most cases, or severe out classing, i.e. m4 vs m7.
In all honesty, the answer is simple, the Split version of that class
Okay kidding aside, I like to be mobile, so speed is a must, and if its M6 or bigger somewhere to dock some ships is essential. So I think Hyperion is best M6 (/me waits for springy lovers) Panther best M7 (/me waits for shrike lovers) and I have yet to purchase an M2, but I have my little eye on a Taipan (Cadius mod) That being said, I have had lots of fun flying many of the other ships in those classes. Had a great time flying a Dragon, Hvy Nemesis has a great cockpit view (batmobile anyone?) Skiron is powerful, Hydra is a common 1st M6 for me. And that's just the M6 class

"best" is subjective and role-dependant
Here's some of my favorites and what I use them for:
- Discoverer - I like this as a Scout ship for using the Explorer command software. Exploring remote sectors, or auto-deploying sat networks. It has good speed, can use Triplex scanner and has a M cargo bay. I also prefer this for training up future CLS/CAG pilots
- Mercury - Ah the good old Mercury. Cheap, reasonably quick at 100m/s speed. Good for MORTing and using as a CAG.
- Demeter Super Freighter XL/Dolphin Super Freighter XL - These are good for Universe Traders or Sector Traders
- Dolphin Super Freighter XL - good for mining (collect rocks)
- Deimos - Excellent for killing anything smaller than an M1/M2. Carries 6 fighters. I can use the fighters if i'm doing a 'protect this transport' mission, or as a way to quickly deliver jumpdrives to new ships I purchase. It can mount PSGs and FAAs all around so it's handy for those missions where you get swarmed by enemy fighters.
- Cobra - This is my Troop assault ship I load up with marines and boarding PODs.
- Aquilo - my missle frigate for when something huge needs to die RIGHT NOW!!!
- Nova raider - One of my favorite M3 fighters to fly.
- Osaka - I don't like flying M2s personally, but this is my favorite if I need a big ship to absorb damage and take out a few enemy capital ships.
That's just some of my favorites. I haven't found a favorite ship for capping yet. I prefer the cobra for the assault, but haven't found something for taking out shields.

Where are people coming up with "Vanilla Valhalla"? There is no Valhalla in Vanilla TC.
And yes, this question is highly subjective to player tastes, playstyle, and opinion. I personally believe that the M6 class is the most versatile class and in a game like this versatility is power.
So I will just list the most controversial ships in the game.
1) Hyperion Vanguard - 3333 Cargo Space and between 149 Speed and 250 depending on how you acquire it. It has the most cargo space of any M6 and has 12 forward firing guns. It can also fire the Terran Wraith missile which is a swarm nuke that only takes up 1 cargo space. Extremely versatile, this ship can be a personal warship capable of taking on any fleet in experienced hands, or you can produce them at your PHQ and make them armed freighters with superior survivability.
2) Springblossom - It is an M6 that has a top speed of 360 m/s and 2000 cargo space. It can also mount MAMLs and SSC. It's versatile but the sloppy shot grouping can make you wonder if this thing was properly tested, not to mention it blows up randomly when undocking from stations. Personally I think it's garbage but others like it.
3) Vidar - This bad boy packs 1 GJ of shields and 10 forward main gun MAMLs. If Muhammad Ali was a space ship this would be it. This thing can literally dance like a butterfly and stink like some motherfu**** just hit you in the face with a shovel.
4) Truelight Seeker - You really need to RE this before you go play with it. But 4 Gauss Canons and 2 PALCs on your personal TLS can take down pretty much anything. I just wouldn't fly it into a **** storm if you know what I mean. This is the only M6 that can mount capital ship class weapons... actually 90% of the weapons in the game. Make of that what you want.

on one of the locked game starts you can get an over tuned version of the ship that is quite a bit faster than the standard one, this is X3:TC mind you.

Something with great shields, and weapons.
You want shields? You want weapons?
Here they are!
Of course, it is rather pricey... And you'll need to start your game over again to use the DDTC mod... But you get to sing the Empire theme as you blow stuff up.

Those weapon slots are fairly "meh" in comparison to some of the existing M2s...
Sum, ergo cogito.

Re: whats the best ship?
i dont get how you think thats meh, considering it has the same amount of heavy weapons as the current m2(IMO the way they have it setup is better), with far superior flak coverage(and yes, @ 16k cargo, youd be daft NOT to carry flak to put in the turrets during periods of no capitalship contact).Derkylos wrote:Those weapon slots are fairly "meh" in comparison to some of the existing M2s...

The best ships from a technological standpoint in TC are always Terran, and then even moreso the ATF. the ATF Valhalla is the single most powerful ship in TC. I know you can't buy one, but I'm not sure if it can be boarded and captured or not. (Mind you, this is from a vanilla player. Mods have more powerful ships.)
