Release Date: Does anyone even care?
X2 looks to be such a promising game but I'm afraid I have to file it under the 'Who really cares' file along with Duke Nukem Forever and Freelancer.
How long does egosoft expect its fans to wait?
Sorry guys, bi-monthly updates (if that) on your web-site doesn't cut the mustard.

Personally, from what I have seen from the screenies, there is still alot of work to be done before the I would classify the game as asthetically acceptable. The external views are very nice, but the "cockpit" doesn't even match any of the ships. I have only seen ONE cockpit too. I hope these things are rectified before any talk of release. First phase open Beta should be conducted before release announce *hint* *hint*

Technically the U.K. is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" (you can see why they shortened itSir Bronco the 13 wrote:Does everyone in the UK have three names? From now on I'm going by Sir Bronco the 13... Just to fit in...
BTW What is the difference between England and the U.K.??? Is U.K. like U.S.A. ??? Does that mean there's more than just England???

England and Scotland were two different countries. Wales never quite got it together as a single country before Edward 1 of England flattened it. It's a principality, and the prince in question is usually heir to the throne of England.
Again, Edward 1 was largely responsible for the conquering and colonising of Scotland, although they eventually passed an act of (their) parliament which made it the united kingdom currently in place, in return for which their nobles got land and money. They have all the makings of a country still - their own capital, set of crown jewels, people claiming to be king - but until the union act gets repealed, we're one big happy family.
Ireland was also a seperate country, and is rather more complicated. It became a part of the United Kingdom, so the red diagonals got added to the Union Flag. Then there was a rebel uprising, and a civil war. Eire (the south of Ireland) is constitutionally "British land in the hands of rebels," the current border being a ceasefire line drawn up at the start of the century. In practice, it's totally autonomous, with its own government, its own currency (now part of the Euro, unlike the UK) and its own defences. A passport, however, is not (and hasn't been) required to cross the border.
Some people are unhappy with all this (notably in Ireland, where there have always been troubles and terrorism), and the newly "devolved" Scotland now has its own parliament and has always had its own laws. The UK only has one army and navy, and only one monarch, so in every real sense we're still one country.
I think that's accurate without getting in to detail.
Anyway, back on topic - the Man from Egosoft says "Soon" and at the moment I'm happy with that. I don't need a running commentary on the development. I'm happy that there won't only be one cockpit. I believe the game is near completion, and I would expect the game to be released in under six months. The wait doesn't trouble me, I'm using the time to save for a machine capable of playing it. My Celeron 433 just won't cut it, I fear.
One thing, guys - do you have a publisher in mind yet?

I dont really care when the release date is. I'm willing to wait and although I would like a little more info about the state of the game, its not the end of the world. The game will come out relatively soon and thats good enough for me. Those who really cant stand the suspense should perhaps think about getting a job or going out more

Rlease?
I guess that every great game takes a long time to complete. They have probably finished the core of the game and are adding the smaller bits of detail which help to bring it to life. Then of course they have to find and fix any bugs they come across. Personally i not too worried about when it comes out. I will be kept busy with games like Deus Ex 2 and Freelancer. Oh yeah X tension is still going strong.
does anyone have any idea how X Online will run on a 56K modem?

No more waiting
Unfortunately I will have no longer to wait. My time has run out as my job has now started, there will be no more gaming. Bad luck Egosoft, lost another sale.

Hate to burst your bubble but scotland has never been conquered or colonised by any nation in the world apart from by the scots themselfs. It is 1 of a few nations on this planet that can actualy make this claim unlike england that has been conquered so many times we dont have enough fingers or toes to keep track. As for one big happy family that has to be a joke, the reason we scots have our own parliment now is because we were not part of the big happy family.Brianetta wrote:Again, Edward 1 was largely responsible for the conquering and colonising of Scotland, although they eventually passed an act of (their) parliament which made it the united kingdom currently in place, in return for which their nobles got land and money. The English colonised Scotland by bribing their nobles with land, money and noble lassies. Scotland's aristocrats sold out. Just because it wasn't colonised by force...felter wrote:Hate to burst your bubble but scotland has never been conquered or colonised by any nation in the world apart from by the scots themselfs. You *should* have seen the tongue in cheek for "big happy family". I was born in border country, I know how tense people can get.
