Post by JohnWildkins »

Hi guys. New at this, wanted to try it out. :)
Following Death is Death rules, except:
1. Mouse spasms = Crash into something
2. GOD, Act of GoD, any glitch or otherwise unexplainable bug
3. Missiles hitting me when I launch them (Happens in some M2s)

NOTE: Most of this will be posted in Steam Browser. So don't kill me if something isn't posted right.

Starting Assets:
1,000,000 Credits (Reason: Inheritance Money)
1x (M4) Argon Buster, "C17-F Last Resort"(Reason: Inheritance)
1x (M4) Terran Sabre, "C17-F Serious." (Reason: Player's Ship)

Mods Used:
Cargo Delivery System (Makes transporting SO MUCH EASIER.)
Cheats (Only used to enhance game. Will not use on self w/o good reason.)

Type of DID: Comedic, Light-hearted

Length: Short-Medium

NOTE: All ships will be named with a prefix.
C17-F: Fighter
C17-B: Bomber
C17-H: Hauler
C17-C: Capital
C17-S: Station
C17-M: Mothership (Just in case..)

This will be focused on trade, some combat, and may end up failing.
I am a ROOKIE to the game, so help is appreciated.
Will start soon :)

Awesomeness

Post by JohnWildkins »

Join In: I will ATTEMPT to buy the ship you request. At this point, I can afford only M4-M5 class ships. In extreme cases, I will use a cheat menu, but only once per 2 hours (RL)

If you want to spare me my money, here are your choices for ships.

N/A (yet!)

However, you can NOT apply for the ships if you are new :
M1-class
M2-class
M6-class
M7-class
TL-class
TM-class
TP-class

Ranking System:
1kill = Private (M3, M4, M5)
15kills = Sergeant (M3, M4, M5, M6)
20kills = Lieutenant (M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M7M)
50kills = Captain (M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M7M, M8)
100kills = Admiral (M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M7M, M8)

Trading System
10K Credits = Beginner (Hauler Variants of M3, M4, M5)
100K Credits = Skilled (Hauler Variants of All M-class, save M2, M1)
2M Credits = Advanced (Hauler Varients of All M-Class, TM, TP, TS)
10M Credits = Trader of the Universe (All T-class, All Hauler M-class.)

No one will be in charge of a station, that'll get to annoying :)

Finally, we will need a council of ministers to change big things in the game.

Council Positions
Council Chairman (REQUIRES Advanced Trader OR Captain)
Council Lieutenant 1 or 2 (Requires Skilled Trader or Lieutenant)
Council Member 1-4 (Requires Begginer Trader or Sergeant)
Council Trainee 1, 2 (Requires : None)

My final big post.
This shows the requirements for pilot recruiting, council joining, and such.

HOW TO BECOME A PILOT:
1. State your name, desired ship (see list), and ship name.
2. Wait to be accepted.
3. You will get a confirmation on it all if it is approved.
:D

HOW TO BECOME A COUNCIL MEMBER
This is harder.
1. State your name, ship, rank, and desired position.
2. If you are approved, you will become a Trainee.
3. The next voting time, you may be voted into a slot you are allowed to be in (see requirements)
4. Yay.

HOW TO REQUEST A SHIP/ UPGRADE:
1. State your name, ship, rank.
2. Ask for the equipment AFTER VIEWING ASSETS.
3. I will then see if it can be carried out. Please consider compatible loadouts and prices.

OTHER INFO: I will not list equipment for the simple reason of it will clog up and entire thread if I do.

HOW TO LEAVE:
1. State name, ship, rank.
2. You will be ejected (Will state KIA, AWOL, etc.)
3. The ship will go to someone of equal rank, the rank will be lost, and you will have to come back in as a private, if you want to.

CHAPTER 1: The Transfer

Post by JohnWildkins »

I still couldn't believe it.
At about 12-ish, I got a call from Argon HQ saying that my father, a Sabre pilot, died in a Xenon battle. Of course, I was mournful, but I was also happy.
Why?
[ARGON ONE NATIONAL BANK: TRANSFER SUCCESSFUL: 1,000,000CR]
I just got 1million in credits and two terran ships in my name.
What better way to start the adventure than at an Argon Equipment Dock, looking for people to get aboard?

Exploration is key

Post by JohnWildkins »

Not finding anyone, I undocked in my Sabre and headed for the North Gate.
If I was going to be a trader, I needed to find my trade route. Herron's Nebula seemed to be a good start. I set my autopilot for the North Gate, kicked the SETA on, and read up a bit of "Terran Ships: The Sabre Manual".
My immediate response wasn't great. My only readings were two Argon transporters. I saw some structure in the distance, so I throttled towards it. Opon approaching the structure, my radar read two more readings. An Argon Cahoona Bakery M, and an Argon Military Titan. Both of which didn't have much activity. I docked at the Bakery, looking for a good price.

Dear sir:

I am applying for the position of pilot. I heard you were hiring and i could use some work. Usually i run patrols for the Terran government in Heretic's End but recently i lost my Vidar in a firefight and have since been without employment. Any ship will do and i am willing to work my way up to m6 pilot (that is when one becomes availible) Currently though i would be glad to pilot your buster for you. I don't have too much experience with 'down south' tech but i would be willing to give it a try. If you are interested in this application please pick me up at the Military outpost in Elena's Fortune where i have been studying Argon Military history.

Sincerely,
Temple Requar (resident Terran)

This post is NOT related to the DiD.
First of all, I was out with a sickness and hard drive failure so I could not post for several months. Now November has come and with it a working hard drive and a fresh install of X3TC. I have mirrored the savegame as best I could but I will be restarting in Argon Prime. Other than that, nothing has changed. See post below for first continuation of the DiD.

Thanks,
John W.

After docking at the local Argon Prime Equipment Dock, I checked my holomail for any responses to my bulletin. Sure enough, some pilot out in Elena's Fortune wants a job as the pilot of my newly christened Buster "C17-F 'Possibilities'". I program the AI inside the Possibilities to follow my Rapier while I tell my Sabre to dock at the EQ dock.

Then it occured to me that there was one small problem with my plan. My sector map was EMPTY. I had no idea where Elena's Fortune was or frankly any sector whatsoever. I decide to go into Home of Light first, to see if there's a gate from there to Elena's Fortune.

I noticed on my autopilot trip to the gate that my autopilot decided that my rapier's max speed was 80 m/s and not 227. Fair enough, I cranked the SETA to max and sat back, filtering through my holomail which was mostly scams and junk.

Jumping into Home of Light I start boosting toward each gate, seeing if any lead to Elena's. None of them lead anywhere I've heard of, so I decide to dock at 'Terracorp HQ' and buy myself a map. The map itself is quite crude and frankly not worth the 1,000 credits I spent on it but it shows that past President's End is the sector I'm looking for, which is good because it's only two gates away. I don't intend on gating there though, because with TCHQ so close I plan on buying a jumpdrive for me and my buster and jumping there. I'm not the most patient person in the universe so I don't plan on gating around every 5 minutes either.

And then, I notice two problems:
1, The jumpdrive is a large sum of money (100,000 credits)
2, I lack the standing with the Argon Federation to buy the equipment.

Fair enough, I'll just gate over to Elena's then. However, I noted the fact that there would be no point of having a million credits because there would be nothing to spend it on! I guess some petty trade would fix that but the question of what I would eventually do with the money and the ships left me with a lot to think about.

request for joining the fleet

Pilot name: Sevin Korbo
Ship class: preferably Terran M5 (cause terrans rule W°°T)
Ship Name: SpankTheMonkey

I have a bit of combat experience and also know a few good trade runs that bring up profit. And since I don't have any important activities going on, I am willing to join your cause.

@Sp@c3Ch!mp - Sadly my only ship available at this point is a Terran Sabre, so I hope you're alright with that. Just tell me where in-story you want me to pick you up and I'll get that sorted :)

Walking back to my Rapier I ponder my options. My first task, of course, is to make it to Elena's Fortune to pick up my new Buster pilot. But what do I do afterwards? Buy a freighter group and start trading e-cells and ore? Or take out a more combat-style life? Maybe a mix? Too many questions and not enough answers. I undock from TCHQ, heading toward the East gate into President's End. The familar WHOOOMPH of the Gate welcomes me back into space and into the red and black colored sector of President's End. Aside from the odd freighter with fighter escort there isn't much activity. In fact, no stations appear on my gravidar - only visual contacts that I notice beyond the N gate. I look in the rear-view video feed to notice that the Possibilities is lagging far behind me. I realized that I failed to notice the fact that I'm piloting an M5 and the Buster is an M4 meaning the speed difference is substantial. I lower my engines to 81 m/s and continue the trek to the gate.

It takes me a moment to realize that there is no operational station within my gravidar or visual range. As I fly to the East gate I notice below me what looks like a Boron Thresher wreckage or something of similar structure. This must've been a battleground at one point - there is torn superstructures of carriers and freighters everywhere, small wrecks of fighter drones and fighters and bombers... I snap out of my trance and push the throttle to max, completely disregarding the fact my Buster can't even keep up with my space dust. I get close enough to the gate to start the autopilot sequence and I slow to 80m/s once again. I then fail to realize and am shocked when I look up at an Argon Military Colossus hovering about 1km above my ship. Above that is one of its escorts I'm assuming, a Cerberus. This must be a battleground of some sort..it's not every day you see a military carrier with full escort, after all.

Cool I'm in and totally fine with the M5. I like the speed.

Sebin Korbo sat in the bar of the free trading station in Elena's, wondering what he should do from now on. He needed a bit of adventure and action. None of that simple and dull trading. He checked the BBS on the station to see who he could find.
Apparently there was someone with a vacancy and a ship to boot. He felt lucky and tried his luck by comming the guy.
