OK thanks to MC Spy who unknowingly provided his buildtradestationv2 script as a template for my much simpler script. This script could use some polishing and maybe more options but this was my first hack at scripting and I'm happy with it so I'll let someone else do that.

Basically this script will make a factory that produces spaceflies :) Energy is required and ore is their food, (do you think they have argnu beef on asteroids?). Gestation period is 22 minutes! and 12 adult spaceflies are produced each period. Spacefly eggs are used as a secondary resource if you wanna create an npc factory and sell your eggs, but the price is 4cr :/ This station is not sold at shipyards, instead open up your script editor and run it. The cost for this factory is 5 million, which includes the cost of the starter kit eggs (remember Sea Monkeys?), have fun!

Excellent idea. Spacefly hatcheries are making me so much money in split space. :) Are you planning other stations? A nursery to supply eggs for the hatcheries would be a nice touch.

Illegal goods make nice profit :) Although my real intent was to give the player a sense of helping to save an endangered species like the BBS hinted at. I guess by supplying the Split with farmed spaceflies you decrease the demand for wild spaceflies while still making a profit...

No, the hatchery is a self contained station, it has queen spaceflies or whatever who lay eggs, those eggs grow into adults, eat ore, lay eggs again and then the adults get sold. Eggs are a secondary resource if you want to start off with 100 reproducing queens rather than 1 queen. Of course that's just how I imagine it, you can imagine it and script it however you want. Maybe secondary resources don't even work for the player, but you can edit the script to make npc factories, then just gotta add transports to it.

But a different factory that produces, say, nividium is certainly possible.

Fair enough. The high start up cost would cover acquiring the eggs and researching breeding programs then. :wink:

There do seem to be a lot of commodities that could be used in factories that egosoft haven't worked in. For example a pirate weapons factory (energy and ore = Pirate hand weapons) could be used to supply a Slaver base (Pirate weapons + Massom + Energy = Slaves) that would make frightening amounts of money. There are even BB articles that speak of slave raids by the pirates.

Hmmmm, possibilities are endless...

I would like to say well done it is better than another script wich I tried which was ment to place stations for you.
But it didnt work properly as the station would be where you put it but when you went onto station info there would be blanks where the product and resources were ment to be.
In anycase well done on a good station.

yes I do, however right now I am working on a Khaak spawner script, its 200 lines so far :/ I'll be done by tonight tho!

actually the queens life is all work no play, its more like give birth, get laid (no pleasure) give birth etc
Although, if spaceweed grows in space, then it is likely that spaceflies eat spaceweed as there is not much else? could easily add spaceweed as a resource :)
