AI and new scripts

Say a scripter adds a new weapon to the game, its avalaible at stations. Will those weapons start appearing on NPC ships?

i beleive adding new weapons to the game is modding not scripting, and supposing its possible which i doubt, but supposing it is, then likely the answer is no unless you replace a weapon... or unless the designers really made it so that ai ships buy equipment in the x2 universe.

Well that would be no fun. So that means if you add new factories, the only times you would see them is if you bought them or scripted them in?

I wonder if the scripting engine could handle creating competitive companies that can trade/build/fight

It is possible to add new ships, lasers missiles, shields, and other wares to the game. It is very doubtful that the NPC's use use it, unless you force them to with a script.
