Need help creating a script

I'm building a script and want to make use of the notoriety features held within, but whenever I try to do anything that pulls back the notoriety it give me a 0 value. This happens for both get notoriety, get relation and get notoriety from race to race. Has anyone got this to work ? Can anyone give me some examples ?
