Weapon energy recharge time

Post by xxx73 »

Hey

I think the weapon energy recharge time is way to slow. In my M5 it takes around 40 sec to fully recharge the energy.

I have been looking trough a lot of weapon information in both tlaser and tbullets and other places, but I can't find out what factor that is determining the weapon energy recharge time.

So my question is; what factor must I modify to change the weapon energy recharge time?

Energy Output I think it is called. It is basically the generator of your ship.

You might be right, but I'd be cautious. It's hard to get this kind of thing wrong because it's easily calculated with math, especially if it's just tied to the generator (larger generators = bigger weapons). However, if the recharge rate is tied to other things... like ship speed... cargo bay... shields... hull strength... etc. That would considerably complicate the process of balancing ship strengths/weaknesses and add validity to your complaints.

Like I kind of think the teladi m6 is a bit powerfull versus other m6 craft. However, there might be a disadvantage i'm overlooking. Maybe I'm undervaluing speed, but it just seems to me that the speed of the teladi m6 isn't slow enough to counter all of its advantages.

I wish x2 would have allowed us to customize ships within x2 rather than being force fed preconfigured ships. That way they could have balanced it for many ship types, and players could have more freedom to choose. For example, they could have allowed us to choose between more shields versus more weapons... or more hull strength versus less speed. That kind of thing. As it's, the max amount of shields can't be changed, and you can't change the number of weapons or the max power of the weapon. Etc.

All I know that the X3R introduced a much more detailed weapon energy handling than X2. From that follows that what X2 has is very simple, possibly unrelated to the ship. There may be variables but who knows if the game actually makes use of them all? They might have had plans, but been cut down to get the game out.

The value you're looking for is in TLaser, field "Charge rate".

Some useful information about this (and T files in general) can be found at this X Wiki

I have experimented a little with "charge rate" and I don't see any change in the energy recharge rate.

Knock up the power value and then try it.

If I remember right and it's a long time since I messed with it, it's down to ship generator power as was said.

That's why the Xenon M2 is so much fun, it's got bigger generators :)

Yes I am sure it is that. If that does not work then somehow your ship stats are fixd.
