mod merge ?

Post by Thunderbird Anthares »

Hi,
i installed X2 after a long time not playing this wonderful jewel of a game (i really like X2 system more than X3 one for some reason) and wanted to play it again with all the new stuff i found here.
However i was unable to get several of the mods working together.
I installed all the useful scripts i could find (like Xai Corp scripts etc) and then installed ATAMAM`s huge graphic mod for the eyecandy,BEAM2 mod because beams are much more fun and it boosts capship HP alot for realism, and then Need4Speed mod,for realism again.
Needless to say it didnt work (as i expected anyway),and i didnt find any mods that would contain all these features (or just didnt notice :) )

So,im looking for a mod that changes capitals to be realistically powerful (killing a destroyer with a corvette or two,or even 10 or so fighters, is a big no-no in my book), have beams (FS2 ftw) and that also changes the fighter specs to be more realistic. The impact it has on the AI is staggering,i know it because i tried Need4Speed mod separately and i was pretty amazed,so Need4Speed has a double + on my chart.
Benefit of the graphic mod is pretty obvious :D

Does anyone know about a mod that does all these things or even more? Or are there any modders around still that would be interested in merging these or similar in some fashion? My modding skills considering X2 are non-existant sadly.
Thanks for repplies everyone :D

D-Ships&Stns-CustMap-WithWares-V0.2.7e2 :D try that

then rename ATAMAM`s huge graphic mod to 05 Cat. Dat. and stick that in main X-2 folder

the graphic mod is in the unpacked form, and its just textures so it should be compatible with everything
and... i was looking at the deadly ships mod and thats exactly the mod i didnt want to use :D
thanks for the suggestion but that one is really just not for my taste (plus im not really a fan of starwars)

There are not many modders around here anymore. That anyone will create this mod for you is highly unlikely. Your best bet is to create the mod yourself.

I was in a similar situation a while ago: I wanted to merge mods, but I didn't want someone else to bother with this request because of my highly specialised wishes. And I had no modding experience.

What I did: I read around the forum how to merge mods and started doing it myself. I got stucked sometimes, but I was still hesitating asking people for help. I looked around the forum, if anyone has had the same or a similar problem.

I ended up with the mod I wanted, all done by myself. This is where my modding experience originally comes from. It was only after finishing the mod that I started to post here. That was silly, because I could have got a lot of support if I had posted my questions.

After all, creating the mod wasn't as difficult as I had expected.
I'm sure, everybody left here in the X2 forum is willing to help you if you're stuck. But I guess you have to do work by yourself.

well, thanks for the encouragement,i know i could "probably" do it,with help from here anyway, but i just dont have the time
i`ll just have to find a suitable combination or move to other mod platform (like X3,if that has these anyway, will have to look :D )

Could you clarify these comments? How did it change fighters? How is it more realistic? In what way is the impact on AI staggering? What does Need4Speed do? I'm genuinely interested, just kind of lost exactly what's being unsaid.

Insofar as realism is concerned, it would be educational to compare real-life corvette ships to destroyers and to see what can be learned from it.
