X3 Terran conflict upgrade in the engine
My opinion it is a great game in general enought time to try many thing tutorial and quest not working well all the time.
that ok until the main quest not broken or maybe more information needed to clearly understand the need action from the player. but..
what bug me most its in window mode soon you alt tab to do sonething else the game stop..
with dual screen and enought mind to do 2 different thing in the same time am sure we can manage to let it run in the background while we do long flight in safe territory especialy the trading verse of the game.
can we improve the engine to keep the game running while we are not working in the game window. that would be nice in this genre of game, just watching the game window while we hedding from gate to gate, while we watch some other stuff in other window.. thx for version 2.0 or 2.1

I dont think he means minimised. When you have two or more screens, the game can run windowed on one screen, whilst your browser is in another screen. Its a case of losing focus, and still running. It would be a case of removing the check when it is windowed that the game has lost focus and allowing it to continue to run.

Yeah. On my computer, using vista (but should work using XP too), if you can somehow manage to get focus of x3TC while still on the desktop, the game will run. But simply clicking elsewhere loses focus and stops the game. You know if you've got it right when you see in the taskbar the 'button' for X3TC is 'pressed' so to speak. It's easiest (but still rare/hard) to do when alt-tabbing.

The game seems to run whilst "loading" and "unloading" from/to the desktop (the time in which it blackscreens). If your computer is slow enough, and you alt-tab for a short enough period, it may give the illusion of the game having been running while you were away.vbruzual wrote:Which is not always the case. This signature is here because it makes my posts look longer and therefore makes me seem like I know what I am talking about - which I do, honest!
For example, the Ray is the best M2 and a Falcon always beats the other M3s, see!
Hey, now that TC is out the Ray does seem to be one of the best M2's. Maybe I had better change my sig...

That was very likely the default behavior of the game and it's behavior now would have required extra work so it's not a case of improving it.treegt wrote:can we improve the engine to keep the game running while we are not working in the game window.
Personally I'd rather egosoft filled up those times in game with stuff to do rather than allowing alt-tab.

Not the case I mention. I alt-tabbed in the middle of the game once, and when I came back I was like 500Km away from the center of the sectorDemolisher 2 wrote:The game seems to run whilst "loading" and "unloading" from/to the desktop (the time in which it blackscreens). It has happened to me once in X3R on XP. It is classed as a bug.
I agree with NeverSnake tho - I'd like the ability to decide myself whether or not to pause the game whilst swapping out to do something else (running on two monitors so could still see the game), but I can think of things I'd rather they spent their time on!
Cheers.

And then we'd have people on here complaining that they just switched out of the game to check their E-mail or something and their ship got blown up while they were AFK...amtie wrote:Surely allowing the game to run while out of focus shouldn't be hard... Only prob would be wanting to pause and alt-tab...
