i want to know if in X2 will be...........

Post by Kissakias »

just i want to say is that in X-2 i want to see everything in words and not only sound (more for installed weapons in ships and missions)

if the "property own" is the same as the XT i think that we have problems
watching all those sats to keep us hitting the "down arrow key" to find our factories or ships
better be in every sat to have an icon "open/close" to see more efficiently
our properties

yes of course with a mouse

in "property own" to see only the sector names that we have put sats
and click on them to see the inside properties of that sector ONLY

e.t.c.

If we have shortcut keys to use, then you can move quicker than any mouse pointer.

Yes I agree that the menu's need to be better organised and less complex, but keyboard interface can still be effective if they made more use of the control key, tab and alt keys whilst in menu's.

shortcut keys? u mean "Argon Prime" hitting the key "A" or "P' to goes to that sector?
i think not so much flexible

better is to see all sectors names that we have sats (blue color)
and all sector names that we have factories (green color)
and all sector names that only if some owned TS traveling that sector (yellow color)

be da best i think

Hi. Yes that's ecentially what I ment. But, you could have like a typing field, so instead of cycling through all the sectors begining with A, all you would need to do for example, is hold down a given key, the control for example and type AP and hit enter and there you go.

But I also take your other point about different colours meaning different things. I to would like something like that.

since i can't remember more than 3-4 sector names for me is useless the keywords :)

Yes. Memory could be a problem, although luckily for me, it's not a problem of mine.

It will be interesting to see how much better the new menu system in the game actually is. I hope that it' much more user friendly.

I think the "properties owned" menu would benifit from being filterable.
Eg. ticky boxes along top, to filter out fighters/transports/stations/others/etc

The thing there is where does all this stop? Remember that the more options you have, especially in 1 place, the more complicated you may well make the process. You have to balance customisation with also being user friendly and not making things to complicated.

Indeed.

I'm not saying the X2 properties menu should have all these options in this thread and all the previous threads over the years. But one should be chosen to simplify the single huge list we all had in XT.

I imagine it is way too late to change anything in X2 now, as it will *hopefully* be in the shops in a couple of months.

I can't take credit for the "ticky box filtering" idea, something I read on THQ over a year ago, but that gets my vote for the best suggestion yet.

Bernd said at the XCon, that this would be in the game.

Hope that brings a smile to your faces. :D

I too would like to see a text option for speech in X2. I am partially deaf and the speech in X-BTF, especially that of the Teladi, is virtually unintelligable to me. I wish game developers would take this into consideration and provide a text option for when you are being spoken to. After all, what you say back is in text!

I am almost blind. So I would like the speach and I wish more consideration was taken with regards to that.

But you equally have a good point from your own point of view.
