Problem with speed drop when on auto pilot

Post by Summer.Rain »

Hello
I play X3tc and i have a weird bug or something...
I have many mods installed but i had this problem even before that.
The problem is that when i set my ship to auto pilot (dock command)
it immediately drops the speed to like 50%..
I fly on a Normandy (ship i add with a mod) so instead of speed 200
i fly on 100 when im on auto pilot.
dose anyone know why is that?

if your close enough to the station, thats normal auto pilot slows down more the closer you get to docking, final aproach speed is 40m/s

Another aspect to consider is that if you have another ship that is currently programmed to follow you, and that ship is only capable of flying at 100, your current ship's top speed will get capped at 100, too.

right...
1. Im not docking, only on auto pilot (like 100km from the station)
so its too soon for the landing approach speed drop.
2. I got only 1 ship as i just started so no one is following me.

Does the same thing happen with any other ship?

If there aren't any docking points free your ship will 'Idle' until there is a spot. 'Idle' ships travel around at half their maximum speed.

Ive also noticed this, approaching gates and flying at random if you decide you want the auto pilot to follow another ship or fly through a gate or fly to a ststion even if the object is a good distance away it sometimes drops speed to 50% again, im currently heavily scripted, but i did notice this in Vanilla.

If you come through a gate with AP engaged and stay in cruise mode but without a destination, the set speed seems to drop to 50% of maximum. I've also noticed at times with a destination set, in clear space and no obstacles or nav hazards cruise speed will be less than the craft max. speed. For example, my heavy Nemesis will frequently only cruise at 100 m/s compared to top speed of > 120 m/s.
