bug.. or whatnot.. frustrating

Post by Mustikos »

It doesn't end, sadly... :(

I got a nice score to build a couple of forges, PSG's... good money in it.. only about 6 million, but it adds up.. then I spend time running errands, and I go to build the forge and click the nav. beacon and it places the forge in some bogus place. I did not want a forge there, nor could I afford to purchase one for myself and the mission did not accept the location. It has happened before and I thought maybe I did something wrong, but at times, when I click on the nav. beacon, it places the station in the wrong place. I know I can click on the map and zoom in and place the station that way, but other times, I was just able to click the nav. beacon in the map screen and it places properly. I had to reload because I cannot afford it and now I have to go through this process again. I hate losing half an hour of time in the game and have to re-do everything I went through. I do save frequently, but not always. Maybe you guys can make it, after you click the nav. beacon on the map, it asks if you want to accept placement and shows you where it is, rather than just clicking once on the right hand side in the map screen, on the menu. Know what I mean?

This is a tech. support question, isn't it? I figure I am not the only one that has had this happen. Aggravating, spending time managing stations and setting trade routes, etc., only to have wasted my time because of this and have to redo everything I did in the past amount of time, if I can even remember all of what it is and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get back the station mission, as they seem to be generated somewhat randomly, however, if not, I still don't know at what moment I arrived at the sector offering the mission.

Thanks, have a great day (night)

Personally I've never used the mouse to deploy stations - too imprecise.

Try pressing numpad '5' to lock onto an object in the sector map, and then scroll (using the up/down cursor keys) to the nav beacon before htting enter (the main one, not numpad enter).

Thanks for the info!

It's beat losing a profit of 6 mill. over this.. It has happened before and I wasn't sure what it was, but it was for something with a small payout. I clicked on the nav. beacon in the menu on the right and the placement was way off, landed right near the gate, below where my ship was at. Usually I click near it and zoom in, use the arrows, then click INSERT to make sure it is on the right plane, and adjust accordingly. Sometimes the beacon has the orange indicators, but doesn't show on the map, so I click it to target it then open the map and it shows.

That's because it's out of scanner range - but anything you have targetted for a few seconds will show up on the sector map.
