Thanks vr01, was THE only folder in my steam directory I didn't check, doh. (Yeah I was too lazy/stupid for a search, sry)
Turns out it wasn't the cause of my FPS problem though. Got the "Game-has-gone-from-60+fps-to-10-fps-after-a-few-hours-on-SETA" problem, and my game/savegame is now unplayable.

i have been having trouble with sound and video troble to.
i have a clean install of windows xp home with sp3, with all the latest drivers.
the only other programs installed on my pc are zone alarm pro, and
paint shop pro.
i do not run either of those programs when running x3tc.
i checked to make sure that windows did not install ffdshow as part of sp3, and it is not on my system.
hopefully, ego fill be able to patch the game soon.
i'm sure there working hard on it.
