are you using a saitek cyborg evo by any chance? , mine does that every time i start playing. what i have found is rather than recalibrating every time, if i turn the joystick in the same direction as the spin for a few seconds, or the drift/pitch/yaw, whichever it decides to do, it stops doing it, so you might want to try that.

hit shift+n to enter "classic mouse mode" - or use your mouse to move the cursor's postion to centre-screen, prior to undocking

if you're in "cursor flight mode" and your cursor is near the edge of the screen,
your ship will tend to spin towards it, and the game's collision-detection near the station's docking arms
will make it seem as though your ship is out of control as it tries to resolve the situation..

- your ship is trying seek the cursor position at the same time as it's trying to avoid colliding with the station..
- hence the seemingly erratic behaviour..
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D
