Xenon Evolution

Hey was just wondering we have seen the Xenon Evolve before right. Starting with the terraformers sent from earth slowly evolving their A.I. and Ships to the Xenon we fight today. what i ask is that i have been thinking of Writting a Fan-fic about the next level of Xenon Evolution a way to bring them back to being the over-arching bad guy of the X-Universe.

what im asking is that has anyone tried/done this before because i wouldnt want to be stepping on another person's toes

Even if they have, there's no toe-treading there. It's a fairly logical plot choice given the series.

Yeah, I based Terraformer Dreams around developing the Xenon, as I felt Egosoft had neglected them - I even subtitled it "The Xenon Evolution" (Which is why this thread caught my eye!)

But as esd says perfectly, there is no stepping on toes here. Those are just my take on the idea. Personally, I'd love to see more takes on this idea. Just so you can see, (and for my own shameless self-promotion ) here's a link.

I also looked into the Xenon's "history" some more in First House of Argon, though none of it is 'canon'. Just ideas again.

I think the Xenon would not necessarily stay as they are if they evolved higher intelligence. Right now, they appear to want to expand and eliminate competitors, nothing else. I think they don't engage in diplomacy not necessarily because they don't want to, but because they don't understand the concept.

I always got the idea they were intelligent only in very limited ways. They have advanced technology and complex vessels, however they are more like simple animals than humans, working on instinct and passing down "genetic" information to the next generation. Basically, they aren't very intelligent, they just have a lot of that genetic information.
