Friendly Races turn hostile when I build a station

I'm quite fond of building in Presidents End, only in X3TC I've run into an odd problem. Every time I plunk down a station in this sector, Argon and Boron ships will start turning hostile on me. This is strange seeing as I'm at Argon Protector of the Federation and Boron Queens Guard respectively. It doesn't matter what kind of station I put down, as I've tried it with various different stations and the same thing happens every time.
