Newbie questions-need help!

Hi, newbie here, I just started playing Terran Conflict not long ago. I'm currently still stuck in my sabre and am contemplating to buy a new ship. I have a few questions.
1) What is the difference between the S, M and L variants of ships?
2) How do i automatically target incoming missles? are there countermeasures?
3) I can't seem to buy any weapons for my ships at all. Wherever I go, equipment docks list the weapons and missiles that i need, but they never, NEVER carry stock. My downstairs 7/11 sells more than they do. I checked ALL possible sale venues listed in the info btw.

The ships are the same, it's just the equipment that comes with them.
i.e S ships have minimal equipment and L ships have lots of good equipment hence are more expensive.

2) How do i automatically target incoming missles? are there countermeasures?

you can cycle between enemy targets by pressing home/end keys. you can set your turrets(if you have any) to missile defence or you can try to shoot them down yourself.

You could try going direct to the factories that make them to see if they have any. you have to be quick because the AI weapons traders get them pretty quick.

You rep with the race that sells the weapons has to be at a certain level as well. If you are just starting out you won't have enough Terran Rep to buy their weapons. If you do missions for them your race rep will go up.
