Not even Sure if this is a Bug!!!

I've tried asking in other areas, Spoilers and stuff, but I'm just not getting a 'For Sure' Answer.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or just "Hell" in Space... but:

I'm playing UnHoly Traitor: While in Argon Space: Teladi and Strong Arm attack me; while in Boron space: Paranid attack me... and in both cases, if I defend myself the System (Argon... Boron respectively) go Hostile. In both cases I've got great Faction. But how is it that I cannot attack (OR EVEN DEFEND) Myself without losing Rep - and these guys can drop me or my freighters at will...????

Bottomline question is just: Is this a Bug - or just My tough Luck???
