1.3 patch not updating ?

Well I have downloaded the 1.3 patch, run it, got all the correct wizard prompts and well when I come to run the game it still says its v1.21 and when I check for updates it takes me back to the download page I just did.
Ive tried deleting the whole X3TC (inc savegames) reloading to vanilla and repatching to 1.3 from basic, but I still get 1.21 as my version so around the loop I go. Am I missing something?
Oh Ive not registered surely that cant be it can it as vanilla to 1,21 worked fine.

Any Ideas?

It seems likely, as most people are having no problems. We just need to work out what.

No, registration isn't required for patching to work.

What OS are you using, and what sequence are you using to update the game from install? Which patch version(s) are you using?

Thanks for the speedy responce.
Im running windows vista home premium 32, fully updated.
I have downloaded the patch that comes up when i run search for updates from the X3TC start screen. 1.2x -> 1.3.
Interestingly when i run search for updates the download patch screen that comes up says i have x3tc vesion 1.02.01, although the x3tc start screen says i have version 1.2.1.
I have tried patching from vanilla direct 1.01 -> 1.3 and also this patch 1.2x -> 1.3 both only get me to vesion 1.21.
I will go and make sure my vista us up to date now but i'm sure it is as im on auto update.
I have a dual boot vista/xp pc so I suppose i could try loading up x3tc on xp but will i be able to transfer my save games?

If think the most likely reason it isn't working is because the patch isn't being installed in the right place. Since you're using vista, the probable reason is that you're installing it without admin privileges.

Note, I don't have vista, and have very limited experience with it, so I don't have all the details. But in vista, Program Files is a protected system folder, and you need admin privileges to make changes there. If you don't, as I understand it, it writes to a user writable 'shadow' of Program Files. And that's where my knowledge breaks down I'm afraid. Hopefully this will give you enough information to find out more for yourself, or some other person with more vista knowledge than me can correct anything I've got wrong and fill in the blanks.

Hi Eladan,
Top notch advice. That was the problem. I switched off Vista User Account Control (UAC) and now the patch worked & I'm up to Version 1.3.
