Ship speeds

Might there be a *simple* method for the modification of ship speeds that doesn't involve searching through an impossibly long string of numbers in an unpacked .cat file? A simple program, perhaps? I've downloaded the modding package and it's way more in-depth and time-intensive than I can afford to be right now. Besides, I can't get the tools to work. :evil:

In the german section someone asked a similar thing.
All you need is Doubleshadows mod editor and the mod manager to unpack the cat with the file "types/TShips" in it. (There's no other way!!)
Open the File TShips and select the wanted ship. Then change this stat:

What you are changing is the minimum speed. If you want to rise the maximum you have to add Max # of engine tuning

How to find the wanted ship?
-> You see the enteries SS_SH_.....
forget the SS_SH and have a look at the ending
A...Argon
B...Boron etc
Then there is the Class number (M1, M2,...) sometimes there are classes as M3 and M3A. To find the correct one have a look at the description name (above the "raw data" field)

I eventually forgot to mention that you hav to re-pack the T-File in a cat file :roll: (path = types) It won't work if X2 doesnt see the new T-File in a cat ^^
