Goner mission bug cant board ship at all

Well so I have the true light seeker in my grasp!!! I send over the marines from my scubbard they tell me it will be done with ease, then they flee. This I have tried about 5 /6 times now with no luck anyone know how to board this ship? What else should I do or can I do to finish the mission. Thanks.
