what kind of "big" do you mean? strong or just large? 'cause the power of a laser can be changed easily!

He means a big highly powered cannon, something like the Deathstar for example with its fairly overweight beam and power.

I was speaking to Harlock about this, its possible but I am not sure how. You could even put a delay after the fire to make up for the large amount of energy being transmitted.

It can be done but I'm a text editor, 2D Artist and skinner therefore I dont know nothing about doing it.

It may be worth speaking with the better modders and scripters. Harlock and Chris Gi are most likely your best shot. You can find Chris Gi here but Harlock you will find at www . shadow tek . com

oh really? how sad - cause the power of a laser is set in Text-files :P
I guess I have told 2 guys here how it's done, with the only difference, that they wanted more shields on their ship ^^ -> You have forgotten to mention ME :D

well, lets see...
The most important is that you have got doubleshaodow's X2-Edtior and the mod manager.
Mod Manager -> Extracts the cat-files and repacks them too
X2 - Editor -> there you got the text-editor, that enables you to change stats als shieldings, laserpower,...

There you got a pic how it looks like it you open the extracted TBullet (located in "types")

For my example I'm using the Photon Pulse canon. It works same with any other - but remember! any enemy with the same laser has the same laserpower! If he goes on you - you're busted!

1.) Hulldamage and Shielddamage - nothing more to say ;) The more the stronger!
2.) Lifetime and speed - That limits the range. The longer the lifetime and the higher the speed, the further is your range. [I'm no english man, not sure if that sounds correctly, but you understand what I mean] -> You can't set the range because its a result of the lifetime-speed amounts
3.) The bullet type - 0 = Bullet 2 = Laser (Kha'ak laser - perfect to destroy aims hat are far away!)

now all you need to do is safe the file somewhere and pack it with the mod manager into a (new) catfile (directory = types) - I recomend you to create one in the "mods-folder", so you can directly select it if you start a game.
The best thing is: since you have only changes some stats, this new version should be compatible with ANY savegame :) (as long as it's no mod that has to run too)

Would this work if you just renamed the file as something else cause the Khaaks Gamma beaming me to death does not sound like a pretty idea lol.

I dodn't really understood what you mean, but I think you mean the T-File?

No. If the File isn't named TBullet the game won't know what to do with it and load the vanilla version (if there's no other installed as fake patch)

In case if you ment to rename the laser: That doesn't work either. If you want a laser for your personal use, you have to create a new laser (or at least disable one for all the others) - the new laser should be enabled for your ship -> If you use a vanilla ship ANY other has the same possibilities and some may even have the new laser installed (not sure about that).

once I tried that out myself, using a worthless laser. the big ships couldn't beat me, but the small were able to :D

whhen i try to install editor this screen pops up for a quarter second and disapeers. I have clicked it 20 times and same thing happens :headbang: :headbang:

afaik you need some "add-ons" as VBRuntime (you can get that too from doubleshadow) - but I'm not sure if it's that, but it's worth a try

ive doenloaded everything on doubleshadow that is related at all to X2 and nothing :( :( :(
