[BUG] Races turning hostile

Post by Graxster »

Ok, not technically a bug, per se, but something very bad nonetheless. I have high ranking with all races, in particular Argon. I was sitting in a sector that had an Argon Military ship. I was looking at the sector map, and clicked the Argon ship, and accidentally selected "Autopilot Attack". I immediately of course took back control of my ship, and since I was very far away from the other ship, no shots were fired. However, as soon as I selected "Autopilot Attack", every Argon ship and every Argon station in the game turned red. This should not work like that!

All that means is your friend/foe settings have been changed - just change them back.

It's always worked like that since at least X2--your ship has to set the race owning a ship to Hostile to be able to attack it, so when you ordered it to attack the enemy, that's exactly what it did! As Carlos says, just reset that to Friendly in your ship's command console and you'll be fine.

It may be more reasonable to force the player to manually set the race to hostile before allowing the autopilot to attack that race. Or maybe a confirmation message should pop up instead?
