Bugs Galore in Terran Missions

Post by Grimm Spector »

I used the search function and it's a piece of shit, I couldn't find anything, I doubt I'm the first one to post these but here goes anyways...

This game is garbage, I can't get through a single mission without finding a bug, but these latest bugs are RIDICULOUS

first one is when you're scanning the pirates running spaceweed for the rude lieutenant, she claims she's going to highlight the ships, they don't highlight, I found them all manually and was able to complete the mission but it took forever...it's ridiculous...

Next mission, I have an Argon ranking of 8, 4 higher than what I need supposedly, but as soon as I enter the system they tell me they have orders to destroy my ship, despite the fact that I have the 200 teladianium in my hold, and every ship in the sector screams over and blows me to shit

Same mission I turn on cheats and simply auto dock at the station I'm supposed to go to since I couldn't possibly get there any other freaking way, so I'm supposed to get her and Pearle but when they bail out A) I don't HAVE a cargo life support, and B) they float 100 M away from my ship in circles and I cannot catch them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they just keep flying around and flying around and won't board the ship if I stand still, which is a really bad idea with the whole sector shooting at me anyways...SO WTF!!!!!!!!!

so I finally manage to catch the stupid pieces of crap after cheating to add a cargo life support to my ship, and then flee, I actually make it back to heretics end, losing every ship I own in the process defending my ass, and what happens, as soon as I give them up and undock at the station all argon facilities and ships go hostile, even though my argon ranking is STILL 8, and I can radio the facilities and dock with them, they let me, but all their ships kill me on sight...

good game.....

Was there a technical support query in there?

So why is this a bug?

That does somewhat explain a bug I had with the same (passenger delivery) mission. It doesn't say that they've bailed out, or highlight them -- next quest location is the delivery itself. I was figuring they were supposed to be in my cargo hold already (like in the Taxi missions), and was actually getting online here today to ask/post a bug about that!

(I hope they don't have a limited air supply... it's been about two days of playtime since I last touched that mission!)

Well first off the storyline missions are supposed to tell you when a certain item/upgrade etc. is required for a mission ie. the mission tells you to have a freighter, but it doesn't tell you you need cargo life support, so you can kill the people when you pick them up, and it doesn't give you a message and you don't know why....

not to mention the all Argon going hostile even though my argon rep is fine, gee that could be a problem, especially considering it CLAIMS that you're NOT supposed to be attacked when you enter the sector if your rep is high enough and you are in a freighter with the teladianium, otherwise there'd be no point to the first part of the damned mission and you'd just fly in there on your own....it's really poorly planned and it's made my game unplayable, it is a technical bug to be able to dock at a HOSTILE STATION...and it is a technical bug that an entire race is hostile and KOS to me while my reputation is in the high positives (rank 8!!)...

I agree with Grimm on some points, while they may all not be bugs in retrospec, they can be incredibly frustrating. The game is great, it really is, there is so much i want to do in it and everytime i keep trying to achieve those specific goals i seem to keep hitting brick walls.

The Terran plot which i know i would enjoy a great deal if there wasnt so many problems, reloads, bugs, lack or very limited information on what to do next.

I hate to say this but i actually found myself last night reading ahead of the plot via the spoilers and this forum, just to avoid any bugs or potential problems.. when i started playing this evening i realised how much ive spoilt some of the storyline for myself, luckily i was tired and didnt read ahead too much.

I decided about an hour ago to put the plot on hold until they patch in fixes for it as i had just tried the boarding mission and my autopilot decided to just play chicken with the stationary objective (i did laugh actually as i made a last minute attempt to pull up) so anyways thought gaining some terran rep might be a good idea, grabbed a taxi mission, 12 people, i landed, they boarded, i flew to the right station, they got off, even had a message pop saying mission complete, checked mission log .. its still there, no reward, no faction increase .. log out post here. Quite disappointed im afraid to say, its like scripts are either skipping past commands or not firing off at all.

I sincerly hope the egosoft devs can get a patch out fixing these very minor yet very frustrating bugs asap. They made a gem but it still needs polishing into a diamond.

It would be great if they could (in order and within a reasonable time limit):

-Fix the scripting errors in the plotlines, preferably starting with the first ones (like Terran)

-Add more specific instructions to the mission logs or add a 'tips' button which reveals more detailed instructions.

-Ensure the code is solid and clean for 'station' missions, there seems to be a few problems here (like the one i mentioned above, i would also personally decrease the reward for station defence missions to be more inline with other rewards).

-Fix the 'ship' mission bugs, like trade and ships for sale (mine seem to have stopped working completly now)

-Continue to increase performance although i must admit i dont suffer too much in this area, game is gorgeous!

-Fix other major bugs (not really got that far in the game yet) but UT's and factory complexes seem to be problematic, also the split economy is abit messed up?

-Rewrite the current tutorial into a much more extensive tutorial or add an advanced tutorial into the fray maybe a little later in the game.

-Change the name of one of the transport ships that have the exact same name as another with different stats or allow inspection of ships from the shipyard window. (very minor bug tho)

-Make the personal repair laser abit more powerful or at least increase the energy capacity alot, i have been known to rest something heavy on my right mousebutton and sod off to watch the tele :P

Yes, I like BLUE
